An Alternative to Hotels for the Business Traveler

The number of business travelers increases steadily as businesses grow in size and scope, selling products all over the country and no longer just in their own communities. Meeting suppliers and customers face-to-face is a time-honored tradition and one that can keep companies more in touch with their business. In a world of increasing computerization and disconnection, the personal touch still sets world class businesses apart from their competitors.

If there’s one thing that business travelers universally complain about, it’s the accommodations on the road. Staying in cramped hotel rooms, drinking bottled water and eating peanuts out of the tiny room refrigerator, and washing clothes in the bathroom sink are common conditions that the frequent traveler has to face on a regular basis. Most meals are eaten at the hotel restaurant or the fast food joint down the block and, if they’re lucky, the room will have a chair so the guest doesn’t have to watch the network news sitting on the bed.

A new trend in business travel that is popping up all over the country is corporate housing, an alternative to hotel stays. Corporate housing works for short or extended stays for business meetings, conferences, or longer projects. Corporate housing can come in all different shapes and sizes, but its goal is to provide a more “homey” experience to the business traveler than a hotel room could offer.

One company on the forefront of this new trend is Wynne Residential Corporate Housing (wynnecorporatehousing.com). Wynne offers corporate housing across the country. Wynne’s accommodations are fully furnished apartments that provide a more relaxing and functional setting than a hotel room can offer. Rather than living out of their suitcase, business travelers have the use of fully-equipped kitchens, washers and dryers, and in many cases, full access to fitness centers and pools. The apartments are more spacious and luxurious than hotel rooms and can double as a “home” office while on the road.

Wynne’s customers are not only business travelers. Wynne offers vacation accommodation and housing for military and government employees who are on short-term assignments away from their home city. Those who are relocating to another city or another state frequently need short term housing while they wait for their new house to be built or to find one when they have been transferred at work.

The size and scope of Wynne’s corporate housing properties is a boon to those who are travelling from city to city. Wynne co-ordinates all of the move-ins and move-outs to give the customer one less thing to worry about. They look after the mail forwarding and the utilities hookups. They consolidate all of the housing expenses so that there is only one bill to pay every month.

Temporary corporate housing is a growing market with rental companies entering the ring every day. Wynne has the experience and the size to provide reliable housing services that companies both large and small depend on every day to take the sting out of being on the road.

Touring Temecula Wine Country

Temecula Valley in Southern California is fast becoming a favorite location for wine lovers from all over the world. While California’s main wine region lies to the north, Temecula has slowly developed a reputation for outstanding grapes and highly skilled wine makers. The region boasts over two dozen wine makers who craft wines in the Italian, French and Californian traditions. Temecula’s wine makers have racked up major awards at international wine competitions in the past several years and are poised for becoming considered amongst the best vintners in the world.

Fortunately for those who wish to tour the region and sample Temecula’s offerings, the area is not yet overrun with tourists, like in the congested wine country to the north. Temecula’s 33,000 acres offer peace and tranquility amongst the rolling hills and leisurely wine tours are one of the area’s most appealing features.

Temecula Valley is easy to get to from almost all points. It is an hour from San Diego, and an hour and a half from downtown Los Angeles and Palm Springs. Those who wish to make a weekend of a wine tour can stay in one of Temecula Valley’s many quality hotels or bed and breakfasts.

All of the wineries in the region are easily accessible by car, but for visitors who would prefer to not drive, there are several bus and limousine tours to choose from. Many of the wineries have starred restaurants attached to them so joining an afternoon wine tour to an evening night out is simple.

Each winery hosts special events throughout the year including food and wine tastings, live music and wine festivals. Checking online for listings of events ahead of time can make the trip more efficient and more fun.

Many of the Temecula wineries do not charge for tastings but some may charge a nominal fee. All have tasting facilities so that visitors can sample the wide selection of wines made on the premises before purchasing. It is a good opportunity to experience new varietals and new wineries. Some wines cannot be purchased anywhere but the winery itself so stocking up on favorites is advised. Temecula Valley grows an array of grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Reisling, and Zinfandel.

Among the wineries in the Valley that should not be missed are: Falkner Winery with their breath-taking hilltop view of the whole Temecula Valley, Keyways Vineyards which claim some of the oldest Zinfandel vines in the Valley, and the South Coast Winery Resort & Spa, a vineyard and winery established in 2003 and offering a full day spa and restaurant as well as their award-winning wines.

Experiencing a wine tour in the Temecula Valley is an activity not to miss out on. The quality of the wines and the beauty of the rolling hills is something that is becoming more widely appreciated. But for now, the throngs stay to the north and the savvy wine lovers drive to the Valley.
