Waiting for the housing market to drop?

Self storage tipsIf you are one of the thousands of people in the UK who have sold their property and have moved into rented housing temporarily while waiting for house prices to drop to a more sensible level then you’ll probably find that you are overrun with possessions and furniture in your temporary home.

The solution to this problem is simple, rent yourself a self storage unit. This is an incredibly easy and safe way to securely store your surplus possessions, and it’s cheaper than you may think, with prices starting from £20 a month.

There are many suppliers of self storage in the UK such as Big Yellow Self Storage and Safestore. They all come with excellent customer service and their storage buildings are safe and secure.

When choosing self storage you need to take into account how often you will want to visit the storage site, for instance do you need one with 24 hour access, or are more limited times acceptable? Choosing a storage room size can be a challenge, but there are tools on line that help you calculate how much storage space you need.

If you are looking for self storage in London then you’ll find there is plenty of choice, the capital is almost over run with storage suppliers. However in more remote areas you may find you only have a limited choice of options, and in some cases the nearest self storage company may be many miles away.

What is clear though is if you can find the right supplier who is convenient enough for your needs then self storage can allow you to clear your property of clutter allowing you to enjoy your space while waiting for that perfect property to come on the market.

Options for Broadband Service in Remote Areas of the UK

Options for Broadband Service in Remote Areas of the UK

If you live in a part of the UK where cable or ADSL service is available then the information contained in this report is largely irrelevant to you. That includes approximately 80% of the inhabitants of the UK. If you fall into this group then your best option for broadband access to the internet is, by far, either cable or ADSL service. These services are fast, reliable, easy to install, and relatively inexpensive. Use a free comparison service such as broadband.co.uk to evaluate the options available in your locale, and choose the one that best fits your needs. In the infamous words of a recent American president, “Mission accomplished!” If, however, you do not fall into this majority, then read on.

If you are in minority without access ASDL or cable broadband services, then, depending upon exactly where you live, you may have the option to choose from several other connection methods. These are one-way satellite service, two-way satellite service, or wireless service. You also, as long as you have access to a telephone can access the internet through your conventional telephone line with what is a called dial-up access although this is much slower than broadband since a dial-up connection has very limited bandwidth comparatively.

One Way Satellite Broadband Service

One Way Satellite service is just that, data comes from internet to you via a satellite. You cannot upload any data, even a simple email, through the satellite connection. For this you need to also be connected via a dial-up connection through a telephone modem. Although this type of service will allow faster loading of web pages and shorter file download times, it is not very good for people who routinely upload files or information to the web. Like other dial-up services, you are only able to upload when you are using the phone line for this purpose, which generally means that you are unable to make or receive telephone calls while using the service.

Two Way Satellite Broadband Service

Two Way Satellite Broadband adds the ability to upload information through the satellite link, freeing up your phone line and allowing greater upload speeds. Although both One and Two Way Satellite Broadband Service require a satellite dish to be installed. The equipment required for two way service is much more expensive. Broadband.co.uk reports that installation for this type of service is roughly 800 pounds in up front charges in addition to the monthly subscription fee that comes along with any broadband service. Still, in some parts of the UK, this may be the only option for true broadband service.

Wireless Broadband Service

Wireless Broadband Service is increasingly being made available in remote parts of the UK by smaller local broadband providers. These companies have a central access point to broadband internet service and then relay signals to and from their local customers wirelessly, via a small antenna mounted on the outside of the house. This antenna is wired to a box inside the home provided by the broadband supplier. Your computer or your router, if you have multiple computers, is then connected through this interface.

Satellite service can be interrupted by severe weather such as very heavy rain or snow. Wireless broadband service may be slowed or interrupted in areas of very high radio frequency interference, though this is relatively uncommon. If you have the choice of choosing a fully wired broadband connection such as cable or ADSL service, then you should do so. The reliability and performance will be superior, and the installation fees will likely be negligible if anything. If you don’t have access to a fully wired connection, then satellite or wireless service may be your only option to upgrade from the nearly antiquated dial-up internet access. In either event, you can find out which options are available in your area at Broadband.co.uk by simply entering your post code into the handy web tool that they provide.
